Indian Institute of Public Administration , Maharashtra Regional Branch was established in 1955.  Honourable Governor of Maharashtra State is the patron  and  Honourable CM of the State is the president of the Branch. State Chief Commissioner, Right to Public Services Shri Swadheen Kshatriya, is the Honourary Chairman  & Member MahaRERA Dr. Vijay Stabir Singh is the Honourary Secretary of the Branch. All the infrastructural facilities such as rent free office premises, furniture, office equipment, free facilities of telephone, electricity, internet, Conference Hall, Training class room and other subsidiary services are provided to the Branch by the State Government. The Branch works in coordination with the secretaries of the various administrative departments of the State.  They are also being made members of the Executive Committee in the capacity of Ex-officio members, special invitees, co-opted members. The State Government provides a grant in aid of Rs.10 Lakh every year to the MRB. The State Government has recognized the branch as State's training institute for imparting trainings to its employees. The Government has also fixed training fees Rs.600/-per candidate to be charged by the Branch.  The Branch regularly conducts training classes for employees of the State Government, local bodies and allied offices on various subjects such as- Right to Information Act-2005, Right to Public Services Act, 2015, Rules regarding Maharashtra State Legislative Affairs, Maharashtra Civil Services Rules, Stress Management through Naturopathy and  Yoga the Branch also undertakes corporate training programmes related to general awareness of public policies such as Aadhaar, Right to Public Services, The Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act & Changing face of transportation in Mumbai and earns revenue for the Branch. The Branch has a library having rich collection of over 12000 books on various subjects pertaining to public administration and social sciences, Economics, banking etc. The Library proves to be very useful to the employees of Mantralaya.  The Branch regularly organizes programmes such as Prelude Conference, Late Shri Yashwantrao Chavan Annual Memorial Lecture, Late Shri B.G. Deshmukh Annual Essays Competition, Dr. S.S. Gadkari Memorial award for Innovation in Public Administration, Training programmes. The Branch every year holds Annual General Meeting of its members and also holds biannual elections for electing executive body including Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, members of the Executive Committee. The Branch also periodically organizes meetings of the Executive committee. The Branch undertakes Research study in the matter of government public policies involving government agencies. The Branch has brought important publications- "Innovation is public administration: Editors S.S. Gadkari and M.R. Kolhatknr, 2000", "Organization of Government in Maharashtra, I965" The Branch recently completed the project on "Women Administration of Maharashtra: A Study of Women Administration of the All India Services of the Maharashtra State Cadre " Undertaken by Dr. (Ms.) Marina Rita Pinto, former professor of Public Administration, Department of Civics and Politics, University of Mumbai. The Report has been published in March, 2015 by the Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi.
