DHARWAD LOCAL BRANCH
The IIPA, Local Branch Dharwad was established in the 1960s. A few years later, it was felt that it was not functioning effectively. The IIPA Local Branch, Dharwad was revived on 17 March 2004 by organizing an inaugural function. The Chief Guests were Shri S.Ramanathan, Retired IAS Officer, and Chairman, IIPA Regional Branch, Bangalore, Shri Chiranjeev Singh, Retired. IAS Officer, Prof.S.A.Patil, Former Vice-Chancellor, UAS, Dharwad. Prof.S.P.Hiremath, Former Vice-Chancellor, Kuvempu University, Shimoga Dharwad. Prof.S.P. Hiremath initiated the revival of the IIPA Local Branch, Dharwad. Prof Usha Murphy, Former Principal, Karnataka Arts College, Dharwad played a key role in reviving the IIPA Local Branch, Dharwad. Prof.S.S.Patagundi, Former Professor and Chairman of the Department of Political Science, Karnataka University coordinated the inaugural function. Prof.S.P. Hiremath,as the first Chairman and Prof.S.S. Patagundi, as the first Secretary of, IIPA Local Branch, Dharwad made IIPA, Local Branch Dharwad proactive by organizing a number of significant activities. The IIPA Local Branch, Dharwad organized regular academic activities in collaboration with the Karnataka University, Dharwad, and affiliated Undergraduate Colleges of the Karnataka University, Dharwad. Seminars were organized by the IIPA Local Branch, Dharwad regularly and recommendations were sent to the IIPA, New Delhi as per the usual practice. It also organized seminars, panel discussions, and special lectures, etc on contemporary issues. At Present Prof.S.S.Patagundi, ICSSR Senior Fellow, Centre for Multi-Disciplinary Development Research (CMDR), Dharwad, and Founder Registrar, Rani Channamma University, Belagavi, and Dr.A.R. Jagatap, Dean, Higher Education Academy, Dharwad are working as the chairman and the secretary of IIPA Local Branch, Dharwad, respectively.
