KERALA REGIONAL BRANCH

KERALA

The Kerala Regional Branch was started in1956 on the initiative of V K N Menon, a great educationist and former Vice Chancellor of Patna University. He was then Director of IIPA, NewDelhi. Kerala Regional Branch was then known as Kerala Institute of Public Administration [KIPA], and was functioning in Barton Hill Bunglow, Thiruvananthapuram. Dr S.N.Sadasivan, a long time falculty member, I A S academy, Mussourie put in charge of KIPA. When the newly formed Institute for Management in Government [IMG] was started functioning in Barton Hill Bunglow, KIPA was also allowed to function there enjoying certain facilities like library and office room. Shri G.Bhaskaran Nair ,a former chief secretary became the first chairman of IIPA-KRB. He was succeeded by Prof.V.K Sukumaran Nayar, former Vice Chancellor, University of Kerala. Dr. P.J.Alexander former DGP became the Chairman after V.K Sukumaran Nayar. After that Prof. (Dr) K Raman Pillai became the Chairman. Following him Prof Joseph Alexander was elected as the Chairman. In the year 2004 the Director of IMG issued an order asking to end the functioning of all other institutes functioning within the building of the IMG. In spite of our repeated requests to the government IMG authorities haven’t allowed the IIPA KRB to have its office room and library with in their premises. At present IIPA KRB is not in possession of its office room and library which was functioning in the IMG building till 2005.
