Dr. Saket Bihari, Associate Professor

Dr. Saket Bihari is working as Associate Professor in Development Studies. He has earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He has over twenty years of teaching and research experience in the area of globalization, gender, and school education. He has taught courses like Indian Social Systems, Rural Governance, Sociological Theories, and Techniques in Social Research to the different levels of scholars. His research interests include globalization, cultural capital, and school success. He has conducted over six national and international conferences. He has presented over 30 research papers at national and international conferences. He has approximately 30 publications to his credit. He has authored two books, namely “Sociology of Consumerism (2017)” and “Globalization and Cultural Change in India (2019)”. He has conducted over thirty-third party assessments for the different central sector schemes of the Government of India. Dr. Bihari is co-editor of one of the highly circulated journals of IIPA i.e. Lok Prashasan (Hindi). He is a life member of the Indian Sociological Society.

Training

Dr. Saket Bihari has conducted many capacity building programmes for senior civil service officers. For Indian Forest Service Officers, the major training programmes have been “Good Governance”, “Green Space, Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services”, and “The Role and Scope of Environmental Economics in Sustainable Development”. For a mixed group of officers drawn from different cadres, Dr. Bihari has conducted a 15-day international capacity building programme on Innovations in Organizational Management in collaboration with Victoria University, Wellington, New Zealand & Crawford School of Public Policy, Australia. In the recent past, he has conducted an interactive mid-career training programme on food security for Indian Administrative Service Officers, Indian Forest Service officers and officers drawn from defence services. His training subjects include, good governance, monitoring, and evaluation of scheme, innovations, good governance and ecosystem services.

Publication

Dr. Saket Bihari has made several research publications. He has recently contributed a paper on the role of DDU-GKY in skill development with two other authors. He has written a book on “Globalization and Cultural Change in India” recently. As co-editor of “Lok Prasashan”, he has reviewed many research articles. For publication, his interests include skill development, social issues, culture, and consumerism.
