Library

The IIPA Library is one of the major social science resources in India. It has a collection of about 2 lakh volumes of books and periodicals and receives 350 current periodicals. It is a depository library for the publications of the World Bank and has been accorded depository library status for the publications of International Monetary Fund. The World Bank has recently set up a state-of-the-art Information Kiosk in the Library to facilitate on-line access to the knowl edge portals of the Bank and its associate institutions.

The collection is particularly rich in the areas of public administration, management sciences, economics, planning and development, political science, sociology, rural and urban studies, gender studies and environmental sciences. The Public Document Section of the Library which contains Census of India publications, reports of various committees and commissions appointed by the Central and State Governments, National Sample Survey reports, annual reports of various ministries and departments of the Government of India, and select publications of international organizations, is acknowledged to be one of the richest collections in the country. The library has an exhaustive collection of press clippings of important editorials, signed articles, and news items published in national dailies going back to the early 1980s

Most of the Library functions and services are computerized. The Library is providing a variety of current awareness services. It regularly brings out monthly List of Additions, fortnightly List of Significant Articles and weekly Current Contents to keep its readers informed of the incoming documents. It undertakes literature survey and makes subject bibliographies available on demand. The Library has internet facility.

The Library remains open on all days except on national holidays, and Holi, Dussehra and Diwali. It is open from 9.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. from Monday through Friday; 9.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. on Saturdays and holidays, and 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. on Sundays
