THIRTY-EIGHTH ADVANCED PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMME IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION
ACADEMIC SESSION (2012-2013)
THE PROGRAMME
The Advanced Professional Programme in Public Administration (APPPA), the flagship programme of the Institute, is designed for senior officers of the All India and Central Services, Defence Services, and State Governments. It is sponsored by the Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India,
The nine month programme provides the participants with a basic understanding and knowledge of the social sciences and the social, political and economic environment within which public administration functions, equips them with management tools and techniques, and the wherewithal to analyse public policies. It exposes them to the conditions operating in the field and provides an opportunity to exchange views and learn from experiential presentation by the participants, who have a chance to specialize in areas they identify from a vast array of electives offered in the programme.
Since its inception in 1975, as many as 1161 officers including those from the armed forces, administrators of other developing countries and teachers of Indian Universities have participated in this programme. A large number of APPPA participants have distinguished themselves in their respective services and continue to occupy important positions in the Government of India.
