Prof. Nupur Tiwary is an academician who has vast experience of 25 years in the field of academia with concurrent administrative responsibilities in various capacities. She has an extensive field-based research and professional project experiences as Project Director on areas such as Women in Panchayati Raj Institutions, MSP for MFPs, Tribal Livelihood, Informal Workforce, Left-Wing Extremism, Governance in Scheduled Areas, Evaluation Studies of Govt Schemes which have been widely acknowledged and cited by scholars. She has been instrumental in the setting up of the National Tribal Research Institute in New Delhi with project activities as envisioned for addressing the gaps in the area of tribal research and project activities required by a national level institute. She has curated numerous capacity building program for the Officers at the Central Government and the representatives and Officers at the Local Level of Government. She has received appreciations from the high-level constitutional functionaries for her work and contributions.
She is currently holding the prestigious position of Chair Professor of the Dr. Ambedkar Chair in Social Justice (under MoSJ&E, Govt of India) at the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) New Delhi. Recently, she was also the Special Director of the National Tribal Research Institute, under the aegis of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India and the Head of Centre of Excellence for Tribal Affairs, IIPA. She was a faculty member at Lal Bahadur Shashtri National Academy of Administration , LBSNAA, Mussoorie.
Her current research interests include Social Justice, Tribal Development, Tribal Local Governance, Tribal Public Policy, Gender Policy and Governance, Left Wing Extremism, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Institutions
She has been Member of various High Level Committees constituted by the Govt of India on important subject matters such as PM Award for excellence in Public Administration (2014); Expert Committee for Leveraging Panchayati Raj (MoPR) ; Social Audit & Advisory Board (MoSJE), High level committee Member, SSHLC, Govt of Sikkim and others
She has Published more than fifty-five research papers and articles in reputable national and international journals, along with Fifteen books, four monographs, and chapters in eleven volumes.
She has Authored numerous reports commissioned by the Government of India and various State Governments, demonstrating her expertise in shaping public policy
She has Curated Multiple Capacity Building Programs for Senior Officers/ Officials of the Central/ State Government.
Initiated Innovative Initiatives such as Adi-Vyakhyan Series, Tribal Talent Pool, Entrepreneurship Development Programs, Women Centric Development Programs
She has Mentored more than 5000 Tribal PhD/ M Phil and Others Scholars promoting research excellence, peer learning and innovations
She has lectured vastly in India and abroad. She also regularly features in expert panel discussions on the national television
