National Urban Conclave on Future Ready Cities

The Centre for Urban Studies, IIPA organised a National Urban Conclave on Future Ready Cities on May 19, 2025. Ms D. Thara, IAS, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs inaugurated the programme. Shri D. S. Mishra, IAS (Retd.), Former Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh and Former Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Govt. of India was the Chief Guest in the Valedictory session. Over 130 Elected Representatives and Selected Officers of Urban Local Bodies along with Practitioners, Professionals and Researchers deliberated on 09 themes covering current status and strategies. Prof KK Pandey, Dr Kusum Lata and Dr Amit Singh coordinated the programme. Shri Amitabh Ranjan, Registrar IIPA proposed the Vote of Thanks.

Programme for Assistant Secretaries, Government of India

A one-day interactive programme/workshop for Assistant Secretaries, Government of India (IAS- Batch 2023) was organised on May 3, 2025 organised in collaboration with Lal Bhahdur National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussorie. The objective of the workshop was to provide exposure to the young IAS officers about the functioning of the Government of India at early stage in their career on completion of their Phase II training at LBSNAA. Shri Prem Kumar, IAS, Dy. Director, LBSNAA and Ms. Ankita Dhanda, Asst Director, LBSNAA were key speakers. Around 180 IAS officers attended the workshop. Shri Amitabh Ranjan, Registrar IIPA and Dr Surabhi Pandey coordinated the programme. 

Programme for Assistant Directors of Agronomy, Govt. of Bihar

The Foundation Training Programmes (FTP) for Assistant Directors of Agronomy, Plant Protection and Agricultural Engineering, Govt. of Bihar was organized from May 5-9, 2025. It was sponsored by Bihar Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development, Gaya, Bihar (BIPARD). The objective of the programme was to familiarize the participants with the critical issues in governance with national perspective. Programme Coordinators were Dr. Mamta Pathania and Dr. Amit Kumar Singh.

Programme for Rural Development Officers, Govt. of Bihar

The Training Programmes for Rural Development Officers (Phase-II), Govt. of Bihar was organized from May 26-30, 2025. It was sponsored by Bihar Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development, Gaya, Bihar (BIPARD). The objective of the programme was to familiarize the participants with the critical issues in governance with national perspective. Programme Coordinators were Dr. Mamta Pathania and Dr. Amit Kumar Singh.

Programme on Public Administration & Governance for OAS

An Induction Training Programme on Public Administration and Governance cum Exposure Visit for Odisha Administrative Service Officers Trainees (OAS) – (DR) 2022 Batch was organised from May 4-10, 2025. It was sponsored by Gopabandhu Academy of Administration, Odisha. Dr Surabhi Pandey coordinated the programme. 

Programme on Public Administration of Gazetted Officers of Gujarat

A five-day Training Programme on Public Administration & Governance cum Exposure Visit of Gazetted Officers of Gujarat (Class I & II) was organised from May 26-30, 2025. It was sponsored by the Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA).  Dr Surabhi Pandey was the programme coordinator. 

Programme on Climate Smart Municipal Services

The Centre for Urban Studies, IIPA in association with Govt of Haryana and Narnaul Municipal Council organised a one-day special programme on Climate Smart Municipal Services for multi disciplinary team of 40 key functionaries of all five towns of Mahendragarh district on May 27, 2025. After sharing inter-city experience in India and elsewhere on the subject a few important steps already taken and take-home points were identified for each of five towns. Prof KK Pandey and Dr Amit Singh coordinated the programme. 

 Programme for Probationary Officers of Sikkim State Civil Services

A two-week training programme for Probationary Officers of Sikkim State Civil Services on Excellence in Administration was organised from April 28-May 9, 2025. It was sponsored by Administrative Training Institute, Department of Personnel, Government of Sikkim. The objective of the programme was to familiarize with the administrative structure, legal framework and government system. Dr Saket Bihari and Dr Manan Dwivedi were programme coordinators. 


NAMAMI GANGE

IIPA conducted a three-day offline training of DAV Public School, Sawang, Bokaro, Jharkhand from May 7-9, 2025 under second phase of the project "Blended Capacity Building Programme for the Stakeholders of River Ganga" sponsored by NMCG. The programme witnessed participation of over 80 students. Prof VK Sharma and Dr Shyamli Singh coordinated the programme. 

An engaging follow-up online workshop for Saharanpur District Ganga officials was conducted on May 28, 2025 under the District Ganga Plan (DGP) handholding initiative. Led by team IIPA, the session brought together officials from the Nagar Nigam, Jal Nigam, Irrigation, Revenue, UPPCB, and DPO to address key priorities for Saharanpur's DGP.

CAMPUS/FACULTY NEWS 

Shri SN Tripathi, DG, IIPA attended the launch of e-book by Hon’ble Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh published by Department of Personnel and Training on May 19, 2025. It contains comprehensive details of IAS officers—including their name, batch, cadre, present posting, pay level, educational qualifications etc. 

Shri SN Tripathi, DG, IIPA met and greeted Hon’ble Lt Governor of NCT Delhi on May 29, 2025 and shared a copy of the book Viksit Bharat: Vision and Reality by Faculty of IIPA.

 

NEWS FROM BRANCHES 

Karnataka Regional Branch

The branch in collaboration with the Dharwad Local Branch organized a day-long Training Programme for Taluk Nodal Officers of the Karnataka Administrative Service on the theme - “Resolving Public Grievances and Increasing District Gross Domestic Product’ at the Zilla Panchayat Hall, Dharwad on May 15, 2025. The programme was inaugurated online by the Chief Secretary of Karnataka, Dr. Shalini Rajneesh, IAS. Smt. Rashmi, KAS, Project Director, IPGRS, Govt. of Karnataka; Smt. Suma, Project Director, E-Procurement, GoK; Shri Nitesh Patil, IAS, Director, MSME, Dept. of Commerce and Industry, GoK; Prof. Dr. Pushkarni Panchamukhi, Assoc. Dean, School of Economics and Public Policy, RV University, Bengaluru; and Dr. Surekha Sankangoudar, Unit Coordinator and Head AICRP -Women in Agriculture, UAS, Dharwad were the key resource person. Shri T.M. Vijay Bhaskar, IAS (Retd.), former Chief Secretary of Karnataka and Chairperson of the branch welcomed the participants and made introductory remarks. Smt. Thulasi Maddineni, IAS, Secretary, DPAR (AR), Govt. of Karnataka concluded the programme. Dr. D. Jeevan Kumar, Secretary of the branch proposed the vote of thanks. 

The branch in collaboration with the University Law College, Bangalore University, Bengaluru organized a Special Lecture by Dr. Amar Kumar Pandey, IPS (Retd.), former Director-General of Police, Karnataka, on the theme, “Extradition – Law and Practice” on May 17, 2025 in the Prof. V.B. Coutinho Auditorium in the college. Guest of Honour at the event Shri T.M. Vijay Bhaskar, IAS (Retd.), former Chief Secretary of Karnataka and Chairperson of the branch gave introductory remarks. Prof. Dr. N. Dasharath, Principal of ULC delivered the presidential remarks. Prof. Dr. Jyothi Vishwanath welcomed the gathering and introduced the guest. Dr. D. Jeevan Kumar, Secretary of the branch proposed the vote of thanks. The event was anchored by Ms. Shubhalekha, LLM student at ULC. 

Chhattisgarh Regional Branch 

The branch organised a meeting of the branch on May 10, 2025 in New Circuit House, Raipur. Shri Sonmani Borah, Principle Secretary to Government, Tribal, SC, OBC & Minorities Development Department was the chief guest and he spoke on the topic 'Challenges and Opportunities of Development in Tribal areas of Chhattisgarh'. Shri R.S. Vishwakarma, IAS (Retd.), Shri Dinesh Shrivastava, IAS (Retd.), Shri Sanjay Alang, IAS (Retd.), Shri Shailendra Singh, IFS (Retd.) and Shri Ratnesh Rajanya also spoke during the occasion.  Shri Anup Kumar Shrivastava presented the vote of thanks. 

Tamil Nadu Regional Branch 

The branch organised a discussion on the topic - Cyber Crime Trends and Security Guidelines on May 3, 2025. The Chairman of the branch Mr. P.R.Shampath, IAS (Retd), presided over the meeting and delivered the presidential address. Mr.Vijaya Kumar KM, a cyber security expert and the President of Cyber Security of India, delivered the special address.
