INSTITUTE NEWS 

Programme for Provincial Civil Service Officer Trainees, Govt. of Bihar

The third Foundation Training Programme (FTP) for Provincial Civil Service Officer Trainees, Govt. of Bihar was organized from January 27-31, 2025. It was sponsored by Bihar Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development, Gaya, Bihar (BIPARD). The objective of the programme was to familiarize the participants with the critical issues in governance with national perspective. Programme Coordinators were Dr. Mamta Pathania and Dr. Amit Kumar Singh.

Programme for Indian Telecommunications Service Officer Trainees

A Foundation Training Programme (FTP) for Indian Telecommunications Service Officer Trainees (Batch: 2023) was organised from January 13-February 28, 2025. It was sponsored by National Communications Academy (T), Department of Telecommunications, Govt. of India Enclave, Kamla Nehru Nagar, Ghaziabad. The objective of the programme was to familiarize the participants with the environment of political, economic, social and administrative issues through a well- defined programme. Dr. Roma Debnath, Dr. Kusum Lata, Dr. Pawan Kumar Taneja were programme coordinators. 

Programme on Workplace Rosters & Reservation in Services

A capacity building programme on Parliamentary Procedures, Questions & Assurances Disciplinary Rules and Procedures Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace Rosters & Reservation in Services was organized from January 20-21, 2025. It was sponsored by National Academy of Human Resource Development. The objective of the programme was to combines theoretical knowledge with practical exposure, providing participants with the tools and insights necessary to navigate these crucial aspects of governance effectively. Programme Coordinator was Dr. Surabhi Pandey. 

Programme on Public Administration & Governance for OAS

A Training Programme on Public Administration and Governance cum Exposure Visit for Odisha Administrative Service Officers Trainees (OAS) (PR) was organised from January 06 – 11, 2025. It was sponsored by Gopabandhu Academy of Administration, Odisha. Sri Jagdananda from Centre for Youth and Social Development, Odisha addressed participants and highlighted need for aggressive disclosure and Jan Bhagirathi to bring people closer to government. Dr Surabhi Pandey coordinated the programme. 

Training for Office of Auditor General, Central Tibetan Administration Officers

A Training for Office of Auditor General, Central Tibetan Administration Officers was been organised from January 13-20, 2025. It was sponsored by Central Tibetan Administration. Dr Surabhi Pandey coordinated the programme. 

Programme on Urban Governance

The Centre for Urban Studies at IIPA in association with Dharamshala Municipal Corporation and Govt. of Himachal Pradesh organised a two day training programme on Urban Governance from January 8 - 9, 2025. Around 60 elected representatives and officers from two municipal corporations and eight Municipal Councils/Nagar Panchayats from the state attended the programme. Prof KK Pandey, Dr Kusum Lata and Dr Amit Singh coordinated the programme. 

Inception Workshop for Climate Smart Governance

An inception workshop under the project Capacity Building Programme for Climate Smart Governance was organised in association with Gujarat Institute of Disaster Management (GIDM), Govt of Gujarat on January 30, 2025 in Gandhinagar. It was sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India. Mr. Nisarg Dave, Director (Disaster Management), GIDM delivered a talk on the Current Climate Trends over Gujarat. Prof. Vinod K. Sharma shared his insights on Climate Smart Governance. Dr. Shyamli Singh highlighted about the project background and the initiatives undertaken in the project. Around 29 participants from different government departments and research institutes participated in the Training Need Analysis to understand climate challenges in the sectors of Agriculture, Energy and Water in the state.


NAMAMI GANGE

A productive follow-up online workshop for Ayodhya District Officials was held on January 10, 2025 as a part of District Ganga Plan (DGP) handholding. It was chaired by Prof Vinod Kumar Sharma and Dr. Shyamli Singh. Officials from DM Office and other key departments like Nagar Nigam, Jal Nigam, UP Jal Nigam (Rural), Irrigation, Revenue, UPPCB & DPO joined to discuss priority issues for Ayodhya's DGP.

IIPA successfully conducted one-day capacity building programme at M.M Public School, Pitampura, New Delhi under the project Blended Capacity Building Programme for stakeholders of River Ganga Phase II sponsored by NMCG. The training witnessed participation of 127 school students and 6 master trainers.

The three-day training programme from January 20-22, 2025 was organised by IIPA. Students and Master Trainers from S R Vidyapeeth, Patna, Bihar participated.

Under the 'Blended Capacity Building Programmes for Stakeholders of River Ganga Phase-II,' IIPA organized the Virtual Ganga Colloquy: Ganga Samvad on Jan 21, 2025. The event highlighted the importance of Nirmal & Aviral Ganga, in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Pashu Chikitsa Vigyan Vishwavidyalaya Evam Go-Anusandhan Sansthan (DUVASU), Mathura.

An engaging follow-up online workshop for Ghaziabad District Ganga Officials was conducted on January 16, 2025 under the District Ganga Plan (DGP) handholding initiative. The session brought together officials from the Nagar Nigam, Jal Nigam, Irrigation, Revenue, UPPCB, and DPO to address key priorities for Ghaziabad's DGP.


FACULTY/CAMPUS NEWS

Shri SN Tripathi, DG, IIPA met and greeted Hon’ble Minister and Chairman of IIPA Dr Jitendra Singh on the occasion of New Year 2025. 

IIPA in collaboration with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) India and Centre for Youth and Social Development (CYSD), Bhubaneswar created a comprehensive digital learning module on the IGoT platform titled “Population Dynamics and Its Implications on Public Policy". It was launched on January 20, 2025. Dr. Saurabh Garg, Secretary, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Govt. of India delivered the keynote address. Shri S. N. Tripathi, DG IIPA and Shri Amitabh Ranjan, Registrar IIPA attended the Event. The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) India Representative and Country Director Ms. Andrea M. Wojnar as well as UNFPA India delegations and CYSD Mentor and Co-founder Mr. Jagadananda attended the launch along with the participants of the 50th APPPA. 

DG IIPA met and welcomed DoPT Secretary Ms Rachna Shah (IAS-1991) and shared few of the recent publications of IIPA on January 1, 2025. 

Shri SN Tripathi, DG, IIPA and Shri Amitabh Ranajan, Registrar, IIPA visited PM Sangrahalaya on January 3, 2025. IIPA is displayed on one of the screens at the Sangrahalaya. 

Mr Ajay Vinzhe, Dean and Professor, Costello College of Business visited IIPA and met Shri SN Tripathi, DG, IIPA and Shri Amitabh Ranjan, Registrar, IIPA on January 7, 2025. 

DG IIPA felicitated Sh. Pranav Desai, Founder, VOSAP who addressed 50th APPPA participants on the need to create an inclusive and accessible work environment for Divyangjans so as to empower them on January 15, 2025.

IIPA has new IIPA Bhawan as part of its infrastructure improvement and investment in human capital to be a future ready institution. 


NEWS FROM BRANCHES 

Bihar Regional Branch 

The branch organised an Eastern Zonal Conference of IIPA on Viksit Bharat@2047: Concerns of Eastern India January 22, 2025 in collaboration with Bihar Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (BIPARD), Gaya. The session was presided over by Shri Vijoy Prakash, IAS (retd), the Chairman of the branch. The Director General of IIPA, New Delhi Shri S. N. Tripathi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Shri A V Sinha, IAS (Retd) and Shri Amitabh Ranjan, Registrar, IIPA were the guests of Honour. The session began with welcome address was delivered by Dr Henna Tabassum. The Theme of the Conference was introduced by Prof Ravindra K. Verma, Hony. Secretary, Bihar Regional Branch. Dr. Nishant Kumar, Joint Secretary of the branch proposed the vote of thanks. The Event was attended by Members of IIPA Bihar Regional Branch along with other Officers.

Karnataka Regional Branch

The branch organized a special lecture by Dr. Rahul Sagar, Global Network Professor of Political Science at New York University, Abu Dhabi on the theme, “What can Administrators Learn from our Maharajas?  Lessons from Raja Sir Tanjore Madhava Rao”.  His lecture was based on his recent book, The Progressive Maharaja: Hints on the Art and Science of Government (Harper Collins India, 2022). Mr. K. Jairaj, IAS (Retd.), former Additional Chief Secretary of Karnataka also spoke during the event. Mr. T.M. Vijay Bhaskar, Chairperson of the Branch, presided over the event. Shri S. Ramanathan, Chairman-Emeritus of the Branch made Introductory Remarks. Present in the audience were former Chief Secretaries of Karnataka, Dr. A. Ravindra and Shri S.V. Ranganath, retired civil servants, members of civil society organizations and faculty and students of Public Policy and Governance from leading academic institutions in the city. Dr. D. Jeevan Kumar, Secretary of the Branch introduced the speaker and guests.
