Capacity Building Programmes (2017-18)

Faculty Development Programme December (FDP)

A “Two weeks Faculty Development Programme on Climate Smart Governance” from December 4-15, 2017 was conducted. Target audience for the same were university faculty from various parts of the country. Academia and scientists are already engaged in subjects related to Climate Change, they have the pre-requisite about the same. This programme helped in honing their skills and knowledge further. Faculty from different fields viz, forestry, microbiology, chemistry, botany, environment engineering participated in the capacity building programme. The call for nomination was advertised on the IIPA’s website and was also posted on social media, overwhelmed response was received. The participants both national and international showed keen interest in participation in this programme. .

Blended Capacity Building Programme For Middle Level Officers

One week blended capacity building programme on “Climate Smart Governance” was conducted for middle level officers from 29th January to 2nd February 2018. It was a unique initiation that consisted of two days classroom sessions followed by three days online sessions. Participants from different organization from all over India sent their nominations.

Blended Capacity Building Programme For Senior Level Officers

Blended Capacity Building Programme on “Climate Smart Governance” was conducted for senior level officers of Gujarat from 19th to 25th March, 2018. This programme was successfully executed in association with Gujarat Institute of Disaster Management (GIDM), Gandhinagar, Gujarat. As per the GIDM’s objectives and mandates, it focuses on enriching the capacities – in specific areas of prevention, mitigation, preparedness, relief, recovery, rehabilitation, reconstruction and sustainable development - of the officials and other functionaries of the state and district administration for response to emergencies and in the longer run, it will take up similar capacity building for other stakeholders in the country.

The target audience for the same were university faculty, research scholars from various parts of the country, which are already engaged in subjects related to climate change and have the pre-requisite knowledge about the same. This programme helped in honing their skills and knowledge further. Faculty from different field viz., biotechnology, zoology, geography, chemistry, botany, environmental engineering, participated in the capacity building programme. The call for nomination was advertised on the IIPA’s website and was also posted on social media, overwhelming response was received. Total twenty participants has successfully completed the training programme.

Blended Capacity Building Programme for Middle Level Officers

One Week Blended Capacity Building Programme for Middle Level Officers was conducted from 28th January to 01st February 2019. After the successful implementation in the first year, it was again conducted which consisted of three days classroom session followed by two days online session. Participants from different organization from all over India sent their nominations. Total forty nominations were received out of which twenty six participants successfully attended the capacity building programme.

Active participation of middle level officers viz., scientific officer, Chief Conservator of Forest, Chief Environmental officer, Director, State Consultant and Divisional Forest Officer from fourteen different states made this programme a real success. Most of the participants were from different state’s Climate Change organizations and were actively involved in developing State Climate Action Plan. Participants from various research organizations like, Space and Atmospheric Sciences Division, Climate Change Cell, Odisha, Environmental Management Centre, Mumbai, and Institute of Himalayan Bio resource Technology, etc., have experienced this different concept of blended learning and gave very positive feedbacks.

Blended Capacity Building Programme for Senior Level Officers

Blended Capacity Building Programme for senior level officers was conducted from 12th to 16th March, 2019. This programme was successfully executed in association with School of Disaster Management, Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM), Odisha.

The programme was designed for the senior level officers of different state departments of Odisha. Officers from different departments viz., Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA), Water resources department, Steel and Mines Department, Energy Department, Flood control and Basin Department, etc., actively participated and appreciated the concept of blended learning.
