With great visibility, people saw in person and in media, the construction and the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of the revered Ram temple in the ancient city of Ayodhya. Besides the construction of the Ram temple, assuming that now a very large number of people will visit Ayodhya as pilgrims, from various places of the country and also from other parts of the world, an international airport has been built in Ayodhya. The railroad stations have been renovated, modernised and upgraded. Several large new buildings and accommodations have been built to accommodate a large number of people who may visit Ayodhya for pilgrimage or as tourists. Now the city of Ayodhya is a much larger and modern city.
All these happened because, in Valmiki’s Ramayan and Tulsidas’s Ramcharit Manas, the city of Ayodhya was glorified as the birthplace of Lord Ram and the capital of his kingdom. This is an example of how literature can instil power to a place and exalt the magnificence of a place. more...
