Introduction
Using information and communication technologies (ICT) to carry out transactions, share information and provide government services is known as electronic government. It also refers to the integration of already existing services and information portals. e-Governance uses ICT to enhance government processes and service efficiency, effectiveness, transparency and accountability. It involves the digitisation of government operations, the provision of online services to citizens and the use of data analytics for decision making (Figure 1). It is a paradigm shift in how governments operate and interact with their citizens. Traditionally, government processes and services were paper-based, time-consuming and often bureaucratic. With the advent of ICT, governments can streamline their operations, reduce administrative burdens and provide faster and more accessible services to citizens. One of the key aspects of e-governance is the digitisation of government operations using digital technologies to automate and digitise various government processes, such as record-keeping, document management and workflow management.
