Abstract
This book focuses on the lives, ideas and experiences of the women in the civil services of India who are secretaries and magistrates, on the one hand, and mothers and wives on the other hand. It studies their personal and professional lives, attitudes towards their lives and work, likes and dislikes about their job and successes and failures in the job. It even tries to look into work conditions and job satisfaction and how they use their authority. The author specifically delves into the perception of women in relation to colleagues, administrators, public and family, particularly their children and husbands. The author provides insights into the personal and professional lives of women in public services, particularly the Indian Civil Services (ICS) and Higher State Civil Services, based on the analysis of workplace identities for women in administrative institutions and government departments/agencies/bodies. more...
