Scientific discoveries, inventions surely need to be communicated to and within the scientific community so that they are put to the benefit of the human community. Scientific personnel need to be trained to enable them to meet the country’s need and face future challenges. For this, Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Department of Personnel and Training have identified the need for structured and holistic capacity-building and management development in both General Management & Specialized disciplines for the scientific community of this country, so that it could impart multi-disciplinary knowledge and provide exposure to modern management concepts and national/international best practices. This initiative was taken in 2004 by Department of Science and Technology and since then a number of training programmes are being organized at identified institutions.

Department of Science and Technology has identified several institutes of which Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi is one of the partners for the capacity building of the scientists and administrative staff working in DST/ DST sponsored institutions.

IIPA has set up a DST Training Cell to achieve the above mentioned objective. DST Training Cell conducts training programmes in various fields and topics for various cadres of staff of DST.
